The work of a web designer is very interesting because it has a combination of good creativity and needs good knowledge to succeed in this work. Mere education on other things is not that effective here. What you know about the work and the unique creativity is all that matters. In such a case you might be in confusion as to how your resume should look when you are applying for a job. Resume tips for web designers is something that needs attention because there are certain things which you have to add and edit than the normal resume which you offer at any other job.
Many people may have different kinds of opinion as to how they would approach with the resume but on a whole they should cover some of the important points. Here are some of the resume tips for web designers:
- The first thing that you should do is select a proper format for the resume. This is important because it maintains that professionalism which the companies want.
- When you are done with the format you must add the basic information such as full name, contact details and the email id.
- Next you must give a very brief description as to which area you excel in and what are your expertise. You can also include about why you want to be in such a position and what exactly you want from the job.

In that case it is important that they mention their experience and expertise for the self employed job. It would be better if they send a copy of their CD or support their work with few links.
- While talking about resume tips for web designers it should be mentioned that the font of the resume matters because you are applying for a post of web designer and therefore mere Times New Roman or Arial will not do. You can choose Georgia which is elegant and simple.
- When you are ending your resume it is important that you add a few references so that the employer will be convinced about your value and reliability.

Book Mountain: You’ve Never Seen A Library Like This Before
In a world where traditional libraries are becoming less a part of our culture and more a part of our memories, this is such a refreshing sight to see. In the town of Spijkenisse (in the western Netherlands) where the illiteracy rate is 10%, the residents have a new reason to get excited about reading. It’s called Book Mountain, and it’s such an inspiring piece of architecture.
The incredible structure you see below is what is now known as Book Mountain. It’s a five-story library, enclosed in glass, with shelves made from recycled fireproof flowerpots and lots of sunlight shining in. The shape of the building is in a pyramid, which is an homage to the town’s history (the shape of a Dutch farm). People can go there not only to borrow books or sit and read, but also for an inspiring experience. The panoramic view from inside of Book Mountain scans the countryside, but that’s not all. Even the inside of the library is creatively designed with gorgeous spiral staircases and little passageways throughout.
Book Mountain was designed by MVRDV, and its purpose is simply to get people interested in reading. There are 15,000 books on those shelves, so there is surely something for everyone. You might wonder if this is one of the largest libraries in the world. As it turns out, it’s not even close. The Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. is the largest library in the world. It holds over 151 million items (which include 23 million books plus newspapers, music, reports, etc.). The National Library of China comes in second place with almost 30 million items. So even though Book Mountain may not win any awards for its size, it sure does win a design award, well, at least in my book.

Chances are, if you are a geek, you spend more time in front of your computer than anyone you know. I know that’s true for me, and even though I love every minute of it, there are some consequences to that behavior which are important to recognize. We’ve written many times about how unhealthy it is to sit all day, but this article is more specific than that. This is about bad posture.
I read an article this morning on Ladies’ Home Journal called 7 Myths About Bad Posture, Dispelled. One of the things it talked about was how working in front of the computer all day can ruin your posture. You can tell if this is happening to you not only by noticing whether or not you slouch while sitting at your desk, but also if you stick your neck out too much (like in the picture above) or hunch your shoulders. In addition to causing bad posture, these things can actually cause muscle damage in your body. According to that article, “If you’re not ergonomically correct, you will wind up with back and neck pain.”
As a woman, a big concern for me is that I don’t want to grow old with a hump on my back. I’ve seen many little old ladies with humps on their backs, and I always wonder if they saw the signs of that coming ahead of time. I mean, obviously it’s an evolution over time. If you have bad posture, you can save yourself a lot of pain over time by correcting it early. This infographic called The Ultimate Guide To Good Posture by Greatist in collaboration with Voltier Digital (now part of BlueGrass) offers some great tips to improve our bad posture and get our bodies back to a comfortable, healthy, natural position. I found it interesting that according to this, 50% of Americans suffer from back pain, and it’s the second most common reason for doctor visits. Dang!

Dropboxifier Syncs Game & App Data Between PCs Through Dropbox
If you use Steam to play a Steam powered game, you must have an idea of how the Steam cloud works. It does not matter which computer you use to sign in to your account, all your data will be saved in the cloud and synced across all the configured computers, whenever you log in to your Steam account. It actually works just like Dropbox, doesn’t it? The major difference between the Dropbox and Steam cloud service is that Dropbox only syncs your files and folders between all configured devices, while Steam syncs the game data and enables the system to read and write data to the sync location. Dropboxifier is an open source application for Windows that lets you create a symbolic link in order to place the game and application data in your Dropbox storage, allowing you to directly save and access applications/games data without having to manually move the files to the Dropbox folder. It basically tricks applications into reading and writing data directly to the specified Dropbox folder. Other than Dropbox, Dropboxifier also works with other cloud storage services such as SkyDrive, Google Drive etc. Read past the jump for details.
Since Dropboxifier uses the online storage account to save data, it means that a single location is used by the same application running on more than one computer to read and write the data. So, whenever you use an application that synced by Dropboxifier, you will be able to use the same profile preferences on every computer. This allows users to have the same experience on multiple PC’s for applications such as browsers, games, task managers etc.
Adding an application or game to Dropboxifier is very easy. Just enter a name the new folder to be created inside the Dropbox folder, enter the source path of the required application or game, and click Dropboxify.
Upon click, it will create folders in Dropbox storage folder, and keep the specified folder’s content synced with Dropbox folder, so that you can use the application or game data on any Dropbox-configured device without having to change the save location.
Dropboxifier works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Window Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

How To Share Dropbox Files On Your Facebook Group
Just two weeks after the announcement, Dropbox has fully implemented its integration with Facebook Groups. With this, instead of choosing files from your computer to upload to your Facebook Group, you can select files from your Dropbox account to be shared to your group.
In this article, we’ll be showing you how to start sharing files from Dropbox to members of your Facebook Group.
Add Dropbox Files to Your Facebook Group
This option is not available on the regular post box when you enter your Facebook. It is an option that is available in Facebook Group only (for now). When you want to add a file to your Facebook Group, you’ll be able to see the ‘Add File’ option. Click it to start sharing your file.
Under ‘From your Dropbox’, click the ‘Choose File’ button. You’ll get a permission request from Dropbox to access some of your Facebook information. Click Allow to continue.
You’ll then be prompted to login to your Dropbox account with your email and password.
After logging in, you can browse through your Dropbox files. Select one file to share on your Facebook Group.
After you hit Select, you will be able to add a message to accompany the file, just like a regular Facebook post.
Your file is now shared on the wall of the Facebook Group. Members can click on the link to download the file to their computer.
When group members click on the shared link, they’ll be taken to a Dropbox webpage where they can download the file. They can preview certain files that the Dropbox website supports (pictures, videos and basic text files) before downloading.
Just like any other post on a group, group members will receive a notification of the wall post. Members of your Facebook Group do not need to have a Dropbox account to download the file.
Note that anyone outside of the Facebook Group can also download this file provided they have the link from your Facebook Group wall.
Privacy of the Dropbox/Facebook User
When you share your Dropbox files on Facebook, Facebook does not have any access to your Dropbox account information or files. When you add a file to the Facebook Group, Facebook only receives the name and size of the file and a download link.
On the other side of the fence, Dropbox only receives your basic information from Facebook to confirm your identity and uses your email address only to identify your Dropbox account.
The members in your Facebook Group also cannot edit or add anything to your Dropbox account. They only can download the one file you have shared. And when you share a file to the group, the link is secured with a Dropbox token, so that even if a person without access to this link guesses the token, they need to identify the file and folder it is in to be able to download any particular file. A simple filename change to the document would render the link unusable.
These privacy measures established between the two services will put your security worries to rest.
Conclusion
Overall, Dropbox’s file-sharing integration within Facebook Groups is of great convenience to many users. Rather than select the many email addresses from your contacts to send them important files, you can just post the link to the file you want to share in the group, and let them download it at their own convenience. To share multiple files, just zip the files before putting the link up in the group.

Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Others Launch Web Platform Docs, A Web Standards Documentation Site
A number of leading browser vendors and other tech companies, including Microsoft, Google, Apple, Adobe, Facebook, HP, Nokia, Mozilla, Opera and the W3C, just announced the launch of the Web Platform Docs project at WebPlatform.org. The project aims to create “a new, authoritative open web standards documentation site,” says Opera Software. The wiki-like site, says Opera, wants to ensure that developers can easily find “accurate, quality information on all the latest HTML5, CSS4 and other standards features across the multitude of available web-based resources.”
Currently, the companies behind WebPlatform.org argue, developers struggle to find authoritative answers to their questions about modern web technologies and often, developers have to resort to figuring out the right solutions through trial and error (the Google team describes this as a “scavenger hunt”). The new site, says Adobe, will change this by providing developers a “single, definitive resource to go to.” On the site, users will find API documentation, information on browser compatibility, examples, best practices and the status of the various specifications.
The site has been seeded with information from the participating organizations, but anyone will be able to contribute content to the project. The W3C will serve as the site’s convener and curator, but the various participating organizations stress that this is a community effort.
“People in the web community — including browser makers, authoring tool makers, and leading-edge developers and designers — have tremendous experience and practical knowledge about the web,” said W3C Director Tim Berners-Lee in a canned statement today. “Web Platform Docs is an ambitious project where all of us who are passionate about the web can share knowledge and help one another.”
